Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 20, 2026

The short version: Clays has no accounts, no ads, and no servers of its own. Your rounds live on your device and optionally sync through Apple iCloud. We use a privacy-first analytics service (TelemetryDeck) to understand app usage in aggregate — never anything tied to you personally, and never your round data.

Who we are

Clays is built by Pragmatiq. This policy explains what happens — and more importantly, what doesn't happen — when you use the Clays iOS and watchOS app.

What Clays does not do

Data stored on your device

Clays stores the following locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

iCloud sync (optional)

If you sign in to iCloud on your device and iCloud Drive is enabled, Clays uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your rounds in sync across your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. This data is stored in your own private iCloud container. It is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. Pragmatiq has no access to it.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Clays.

In-app purchases

When you purchase Clays Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple shares with us only a receipt that confirms the purchase — not your name, email, payment details, or device identifiers. Restore Purchase uses the same mechanism.

Anonymous usage analytics (TelemetryDeck)

Clays uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service based in the EU, to understand how the app is used in aggregate. TelemetryDeck is explicitly designed to avoid tracking individuals.

What we send: anonymous counts of feature usage (e.g., "how often is the paywall shown", "which disciplines are scored most", "crash frequency by app version"), app version, OS version, and approximate region (country level).

What we never send: your name, email, round scores, shot data, roster, guns, locations, weather snapshots, scorecard images, or any identifier that Apple assigns to you (IDFA, IDFV, Apple ID).

Instead of a persistent identifier, TelemetryDeck receives a hash derived from a device-local salt that we control. The resulting token cannot be reversed to a device or cross-referenced to any other service.

If you prefer not to send any analytics, you can turn them off from Settings → Privacy → Share analytics inside the Clays app. Doing so has no effect on the features you can use.

Third-party services

Clays integrates with the following services only:

No other third-party service is integrated into Clays.

Data you choose to share

When you export or share a scorecard image from Clays, that image leaves the app only because you asked it to. Where it goes (Messages, email, social apps) is up to you and is governed by whichever app you send it to.

Children

Clays is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data about them.

Account deletion

Clays does not create accounts, so there is nothing to delete server-side. You can wipe all local and iCloud Clays data at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. This is irreversible.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
